Energy Storage System for Electric Scooter

Posted: December 23rd, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: Electric Scooter | Tags: , , , , | 1 Comment »

The goal of this project will be to design and build an energy storage system to power an electric scooter. The energy storage system will consist of a combination of batteries and supercapacitors. Combining batteries and supercapacitors has the advantage of merging high power capability (supercapacitors) with high energy capability (batteries). Ideal students would be comfortable with circuit design. The team will need to: 1. Characterize the power and energy requirements for propelling the scooter 2. Determine the type of batteries and supercapacitors that should be used 3. Build the battery pack including protection and monitoring circuitry Project Members: Timothy G Gubitz ; Paul Matthew Hauser ; Stephane B Henrion ; Mathew Frederick King ; David Aaron Monsees Advisor: Dr. Srdjan Lukic Sponsor: FREEDM Systems Center
